Sisters, Sisters

Does anyone else know that song, "Sisters", from White Christmas? My sister and I have watched that movie and sang that song forever (yes, we are cheesy like that). It's a tradition for us to watch that movie every Christmas. So when I was offered tickets to see the play, who else would I ask to join me? We had been looking forward to it for so long and the night was finally here! We decided to make an evening out of it and had dinner together first. It was just fun to spend some time with my sister and dear friend! We talk on the phone and send each other messages on Facebook (sad, I know), but with our kids and busy lives we don't get much time with just the two of us. It was great!

Afton really wanted to get in on GNO! Sorry, girl, it's off to bed for you! Don't even try to charm me with that precious smile.

My sister! Speaking of my sister, I have to put in a shameless plug for her book! It's for sale here.

Saturday morning I had tears in my eyes as I started my 12 mile run. No, not because my running buddies weren't with me but because it was so frigid!! I know my friends in Wisconsin and family in Illinois would make fun of me for saying this, but I have definitely adjusted to the weather here in the years I have lived in South Carolina and it was just plain freezing! My eyes were watering and tears were literally coming down my cheeks. But thankfully, somewhere during the first mile I warmed up. I started a little later since I didn't want to be alone in the dark, so I got to "sleep in" until 5:30! What's weird is that I felt the same as when I get up at 4:00...oh well. Anyway, the first few miles I wanted to take a shortcut to where I was meeting Katie but I pushed on and started feeling good around 3-4 miles. The rest of the first 8 miles were great. The sun was coming up, there were a lot of other friendly runners out, and I was keeping a good pace.

I finished a good 8 mile run and Katie joined me for my last 4 miles. I finished quickly because I was anxious to get some coffee to warm me up! We finished and then headed to our favorite Saturday morning spot - Dunkin Donuts!

It was a great run and the perfect start to the weekend!

  2. Sounds like you had fun! At the play, I mean. Not in the cold. LOL. And can I just say how impressed I am that you get up that early on a regular basis?

  5. I am going to have to make 2010 the year I finally see White Christmas! I am almost embarrassed to even admit that I have never seen it. That is super cute that you two have "your song" with that movie!
