Not Quite 8...

We had a horrible run today. It's days like today that I'm like, "have I seriously run 15, 16, 18 miles in the past few weeks??" Oh well, I know these runs happen...it just stinks when they do. We got through 5.6 and I had to stop. I felt bad holding Len back until he told me he'd been wanting to stop too. It's also mornings like this that I'm glad I wasn't running by myself! I probably wouldn't have made it to mile 2...but at least I did 5.6! Neither of us wanted to be the one to stop...I took one for the team today. You can thank me later, Len.

So many things went wrong, and I know what they are...

1 - I slept horribly. Phil got home form work at almost 10:00 so I didn't get in bed as early as I should have for getting up at 4:30. I woke up a couple of times in the night, too, because it was raining really hard.
2 - I ate really bad Monday. Not what I ate necessarily but when. I didn't have lunch until 4:00...I never do that! Plus I had caffeine at lunch. I typically only drink it in the morning. It really messes up my sleep.
3 - I didn't drink enough water at all.
4 - I need to REST on rest days - didn't do that either. I at least need to try not to be up walking around so much and rest these very weary legs!
5 - Oh yeah, I ran 18 miles Saturday and then was on my feet most of the day.

So, even though I hate stopping on a run, I'm going to cut myself a break and just get back to it tomorrow!

Happy Tuesday!

  1. At least you still ran 5.6 miles! Not every run is going to be perfect. Way to take one for the team. :)

  2. You deserve some slack. Training is so demanding and there are always those not so great days. You turned it into a pretty good run by completing 5.6 miles! Nice work!

  3. 5.6 is like my max mileage - so I still think it was a great run! But I hear ya - I hate stopping early, too. :(
