Marathon

I don't really believe in "signs", but if I did, these would be some good ones for me considering training for a marathon in December! :)

1 - Tomorrow would be 18 weeks prior to the marathon, which is when Hal Higdon's training plan has you start. I worked off his half marathon training plan for my first half marathon. I tweaked it to work with my lifestyle, but I really liked it.

2 - The 12 mile training day happens to fall on the day of the Spinx Half Marathon.

3 - I have an issue with stopping during runs and races. I have never stopped on a race before, but I have to know that it will happen on a marathon (at least for me) and it's OKAY. I read this in several different places and am trying to come to terms with that. That will help me both on long training runs and during a marathon (if I do it).
Jake was cracking me up. He was pointing to Phil in our family picture and yelling "DADDY" for a long time this afternoon. I think he was missing his buddy! I had to e-mail the picture to Phil at work. :)

  1. I went to the gym tonight and totally got in the zone! I walked for about 1/2 mile, then ran (without stopping) for a whole 5K! And I felt like I could keep going after that! So I walked for about a mile and a half, ran a mile, and closed out my 10K walking. It was great! Just had to share and I knew you'd get a smile out of it! We've got to coordinate our workouts one of these days now that we're at the same gym! :)

  2. I LOVE "getting in the zone." I totally know what you mean! I'm glad you called me about your run - that's so great!! Yes, it would be fun to coordinate workouts sometime!! I will probably try to go tomorrow afternoon for a strength training...unless I'm too tired. :)

So proud of you! Happy Saturday!
